Abstract

INTRODUCTION: The cardiovascular system plays a vital role in sustaining life by delivering oxygenated blood to all parts of the body. The heart functions as a muscular pump that circulates blood through a network of blood vessels including arteries, veins, and capillaries. A heart attack occurs when one of the arteries that supplies blood to the heart becomes blocked. The blockage restricts blood flow, resulting in a lack of oxygen to the heart muscle, which can cause tissue damage or cell death. METHODOLOGY: A quasi -experimental design was used to assess the effectiveness of informational booklet on knowledge and attitude regarding Myocardial Infarction among adults. Total 72 participants were selected by using non probability convenient sampling technique. The self-structured questionnaire to assess knowledge and attitude regarding myocardial infarction. Data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULTS: In the study, the sociodemographic variables vary in the both control and experimental and control group. Most participants in the experimental group were aged 40–49 (38.9%), while those in the control group were mostly 30–39 (36.1%). The experimental group showed a significant increase in mean knowledge scores from 14.47 ± 4.19 to 20.17 ± 3.18 and attitude scores from 30.58 ± 4.35 (61.16%) to 35.42 ± 3.13 (70.84%). CONCLUSION: Post test reveals that the informational booklet was effective in improving knowledge and attitude regarding myocardial infarction among adults.
